About us

Hi, we're Blair and Ben

Curious Finds started the way most op-shop habits do: one too many vases, and a garage that slowly turned into a warehouse. We spend our weekends hunting op shops, markets and garage sales for the pieces we can't leave behind.

It's a small side business we run around our day jobs, with plenty of supervision from the dogs. We do it because well-made old things deserve a second home, not a landfill, and because nothing beats seeing a piece we loved go to someone who loves it even more.

Questions, answered

Is everything second-hand?

Yes. Every piece is vintage or pre-loved, found in op shops, markets and garage sales around New Zealand. Most are one of a kind, so once something sells, it's gone.

What condition are the items in?

We check every piece in good light and note any chips, crazing or wear in the listing, along with whether there's a maker's backstamp. Expect the gentle signs of age that come with pre-loved homewares, and zoom in on the photos.

When do new finds go online?

Our main drop goes live every Thursday evening, with a smaller drop occasionally on Sundays. Follow us on Instagram for a sneak peek every Tuesday.

How much is shipping, and how fast is it?

We ship NZ-wide with tracking and aim to send every order within 3 business days. Shipping is calculated at checkout - with combined shipping for multiuple items.

DM us if you would like to start an open-box. You can make multiple orders online and we will refund shipping when we work out the actual costs once you're ready for us to send.

How do you pack glass and ceramics?

Carefully. Fragile pieces are wrapped individually and boxed with plenty of padding. We keep and reuse every postage box and bit of packing we can.

Can I pick up my order locally?

Yes. DM us if you would like to arrange pickup in Masterton - we can send you a custom order link to remove the website shipping costs.

Can I pay with Afterpay?

Yes. Afterpay is available at checkout, so you can split your order into four payments.

What if something arrives damaged?

Get in touch with a photo of the item and packaging and we'll make it right.
